Women and Design Project

Project: Women and Design Project

Description

Involving women in ongoing design and regeneration projects across wolverhampton

This project began with a half day event from 10-1pm on the morning of the 10th June 2009 (see  Women and Design Events page for details)

There were representatives from the Regeneration, Children and Young People and Neighbourhood Renewal Departments from Wolverhampton City Council and access, safety and user friendly issues was discussed. We are now arranging a series of  speakers and site visits from Regeneration Projects across the City. This is part of a project WOW is conducting with the Women's Design Service and with funding from Barrow Cadbury.

The on-going work will include a focus group of women which can be a consultation point for major planning applications in the City. The formation of such a group is welcomed by the Council as informed residents to assist with Regeneration Projects in the City and the Council is keen that women who want to be involved should have opportunities to gain work experience in regeneration or design.

The latest item the Women's Design Group is considering are the plans for Bilston Leisure Centre and the group are setting up a meeting in the Bilston area to look at this and other regeneration projects in the Bilston area. For more details or to join the Group please contact Chris Irvine at WOW.
